Browsers - i.e. Netscape, Web TV, Hand helds, etc. 1:00 - 2:15 Introduction to Web Programming tools. Html editors - discussion of Front Page, Dreamweaver etc. Introduction to Freeware editors., Image development programs - Paint Shop Pro, Adobe software, Kai's Photo Soap etc. 2:30 - 4PM Writing for the web: Size of web pages etc. Simplicity. Use of color. 216 color limit. Homework - review of first chapter on Cashsave Web Design text. Select your own web site project. Tuesday AM Monday: 9 - 10:30 Basic Html Lecture and introduction of Cashsave Basic Html Text 10:45 - 12:00 First lesson on HTML - work by students to start their first website using either Notepad or freeware editor.. covering parts of a website, opening and closing statements, Html, Body, Head, Meta tags, Header and Font tags and their attributes. Tuesday PM 1:00 - 2:15 First Lesson on Web Design Use of Color, Different Design Shapes, Page Size etc. 2:30 - 4 PM Planning a web site using paper and pencil , setting up a flow chart with navigation. Show live examples of good and bad web design. Homework - Check out on the web several sites using different types of design. Look for design errors in established sites. Wednesday: 9-10:30 Review of Homework. Classroom discussion on what's wrong with the websites reviewed and what action to take to correct them. 10:45 to 12:00 Basic Html. Navigation - use of Anchor tags. More Html tags. Different designs, methods for Navigation. Links with Examples. Hands on work. 1.00-2:15 Images. Tutorial on Paintshop Pro. Making Gif's - optimizing Jpegs etc. 2:30- 4 PM Using Images as Nav tools ... Homework: - A list apart.. review of Navigation tutorial Thursday 9-10:30 Review of Homework and previous days work. Student discussion on Site Navigation methods - Side bar, Top bar, Bottom of page. 10:45 - 12:00 HTML design .. common commands etc. 1:00 - 2:15 Production of a 4 page web site. using links etc. 2:30 - 4:00 Review of students work and examples of 4 page site. Homework . Work on your own site. Prepare a flow chart of the site ( paper and pencil ) and a statement of use. Friday 9-10:30 Review of Homework and previous days work 10:45 - to 12:00 HTML - Discussion of Frames and Tables. Using Tables, tags etc. 1:00 - to 2:30 Inserting Images in a web page . 2:45 to 4:00 Hands on design of a Tables based site. Using an image designed by the student as a header and including a photo in a table. WEEK BREAK: Homework: Review of full weeks work. This weeks work is to design and write a four page web site with links and images as links. Use at least 2 types of links. Use both external and internal links.
