Tallest Totem Pole

To Rise Again - L'TUSTO
The world's tallest freestanding totem in Beacon Hill Park has been an inspiring Victoria landmark since 1956 when Chief Mungo Martin, David Martin and Henry Hunt carved majestic images from the Kwakwakw'wakw nation into the handpicked cedar. The donations of 10,000 shareholders ensured the pole became a symbol of cooperation between the First Nations' and Victoria communities.

Restoration of this landmark has begun and community spirit will once again help the pole To Rise Again, or in the Kwakwa'la language l'tusto. Funds raised will add to the generous donations of local businesses. Shareholders will receive a souvenir certificate for their contribution.

To purchase a $5 share make cheques payable to "To Rise Again" and mail or drop off at "To Rise Again", c/o Victoria Native Friendship Centre, 610 Johnson Street, Victoria BC, V8W 1M4, or purchase online at l'tusto ( will open a new window )
